1993 - Golf Course expands
Greys Green Golf Course is still often called The Dog Golf Course, as it all started in Dog Field on Greys Green Farm
1993
Despite all the local opposition, the simple little golf course flourished
Apart from being blessed with ideal soil type, the location was perfect - very near Sonning Common, Reading, Emmer Green, and Henley-on-Thames, pretty near Wallingford, High Wycombe and Marlow and quite near Windsor, Slough and Oxford
Golf expands
After a year of grazing by sheep and continuous mowing - and with absolutely no earth
moving or ground modelling - more of the former cow pastures were opened up for golf
From April 1993 the par 3 players got a greatly enhanced experience for their (unchanged) green fee and the red course players relished the opportunity to give their drivers an airing on a new 18-hole course
This letter from Alexander Hood to the golfers in April 1993 brought the good news of the expansion
